Garcia has been awarded over 17 medals in national championships and belonged to the Ladies Texas Golf Association. Following her high school graduation, Garcia attended Texas Christain University for several years and then transferred to the University of Texas. Once she enrolled at Texas Christain University, she experienced a highly competitive setting that made it easier for her to improve her golfing skills. Angela Akin Garcia chose journalism rather than golf despite experiencing happiness and fulfillment in her playing. When she graduated her degree, she was employed as an Fox Sports Southwest reporter.
